PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA – The Cove Collective is proud to announce a significant victory for local public health and environmental conservation. Following three months of dedicated public awareness efforts and collaborative discussions, the Palos Verdes Estates City Council voted 4-0 to immediately reduce the use of harmful herbicides in public spaces and trails throughout the city.

This landmark decision marks the beginning of a transition toward a comprehensive Integrated Pest Management (IPM) policy. This policy will serve as a long-term roadmap for responsible land management, prioritizing the health of the community and the preservation of the Peninsula’s unique natural resources.

“We see this action by the City as a vital step in developing a longer-term vision for acting as a responsible steward for our local environment and nearby marine ecosystems,” said Adam Wagner, founding member of The Cove Collective. “By adopting an ‘organic-first’ approach, our city leadership is taking a stand against the use of harmful chemicals like Ranger Pro, Roundup, and 2,4-D, which impact our families, our pets, and the wildlife that call this Peninsula home.”

The move toward an IPM policy ensures that future land management decisions are guided by ecological data and public safety rather than a reliance on synthetic chemicals. The Cove Collective views this local success as a potential model for a unified, peninsula-wide effort to eliminate toxic herbicides.
