Building Community Through Action

The Cove Collective hosted our first event, a beach cleanup at RAT Beach. With over 40 parents, surfers, kids, and concerned citizens, we collected over 80 lbs of trash along the Malaga Cove coastline.

The Cove Collective had an great time last Sunday, November 2nd, at RAT Beach in Palos Verdes Estates. We swapped surfboards for trash bags and got together for a community beach cleanup.

It was amazing! We had over 40 families come out to help make the beach better than we found it. We managed to collect over 50 pounds of trash! The usual suspects were all there: lots of plastic bits, plenty of abandoned water bottles, and unfortunately, a fair amount of styrofoam. Getting that stuff off the beach makes a huge difference for our local tide pools and the ocean.

A big shout-out and thank you to every person who came out and helped make the beach cleaner. It was a great day with great people, and the coast looks much better because of it. Thank you to the Sleep Seal Coffee in Redondo Beach for being one of our event sponsors.

See you at the next one!
